Welcome to the KCSS Website

Since its inception in 1961 as a school community, K.C.S.S. has provided quality academic education accompanied by artistic, athletic, and technical studies opportunities for students.

SCHOOL COMMUNITY
K.C.S.S. is a school serving students from several communities of the region with an attendance area which includes:
  • Schomberg
  • King City
  • Kettleby
  • Nobleton
  • Oak Ridges

  • FACILITY
K.C.S.S. is a facility of approximately 200,000 sq. ft. situated on 20 acres on the south side of King Road opposite King City Public Library. The main building was constructed in 1961. Major structural renovations took place in 1962, when a technical studies area was added; in 1966, a third gym and library were added; and in 1991, a centrally located library resource centre was added.
Externally, there are two major outdoor playing areas which are used for field games. For a number of years our senior environmental science class has worked on naturalizing the two inner courtyards. As part of a good neighbour approach and in recognition of the efforts of our graduating students a coniferous border is being planted around the perimeter of the school property along the fence line.

    SCHOOL PROGRAM
King City S.S. is a semester school offering students up to eight courses a year, four in each semester. Each day consists of four 75-minute periods with a common lunch between periods 2 and 3.
Four days a week, late transportation will be arranged leaving at 4:30 p.m. to permit all students to arrange for individual assistance and to participate in co-curricular athletic and artistic activities. Students pay for this transportation on a cost-recovery basis. The current program priorities include:
  • promoting academic excellence
  • providing an equitable learning environment which focuses on ethno cultural awareness and tolerance
  • promoting programs to support all students regardless of destinations
  • increasing accessibility to computer facilities and internet information
  • maintaining and modernizing the facility
